The APJA encourages you to achieve the highest possible level, which will also enhance the reputation of our association.
- YOU MUST BE AN APJA MEMBER TO APPLY FOR ACCREDIATION
- Applications are available via the online form on this website. You will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application once submitted.
- The application will be reviewed by the Accreditation Sub-committee. Subsequently the Honours Chairperson will advise you by email and if successful will also include a PDF certificate for the applied level.

Novice – NAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended an ‘Introduction to Judging Seminar (Level 1)
- Have been a proven practicing photographer for at least three years
- Have gained at least ten awards at club competition level
or
at least ten acceptances at National/International level
or
Submit a portfolio of five images to be assessed by the Accreditation Panel
Intern – IAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended an ‘Intern Training Seminar’ (Level 2)
- Have successfully completed an Image Evaluation workshop on Critiquing and Assessing images at club level
- Have judged club photography competitions for at least one year
- Have been mentored during this year
- Have judged at least 5 clubs
- Have gained at least twenty awards at club competition level
or
at least twenty acceptances at National/International Level
or
have submitted a portfolio of ten images (to be assessed by the Accreditation Panel
Licentiate – LAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended a ‘Licentiate Training Seminar’ (Level 3)
- Have been judging club photography competitions for at least two years
- Have been mentored during this year
- Have judged at least 15 club competitions
- Have constructed and presented at least two different photography presentations at a photo club
- Have shadow judged at least four times during the mentor program
- Have read the APJA manual “Judging Photographs”
- Have attended at least for photographic exhibitions you have attended(Gallery, Salon etc.). This does not include Club, National or International amateur exhibitions.
- Have gained at least fifty awards at club competition level
or
At least fifty acceptances at National/International Level or been awarded LAPS in the APS Honours system,
or
Have submitted a portfolio of twenty images (to be assessed by the Accreditation Panel)
Associate – AAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended an ‘Associate Training Seminar’ (Level 4)
- Have judged at least 30 photography club competitions
- Have been judging club photography competitions over at least three years
- Have constructed and presented at least five different photography presentations at photo clubs
- Have researched the work of at least 5 different internationally known photographers
- Have judged at least two photography Interclub competitions
- Have judged in at least two National photography competitions by APS (not a pre-requisite but looked upon favourably)
- Have mentored at least two Intern judges (not a pre-requisite but looked upon favourably)
Fellow – FAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended a ‘Fellow Training Seminar’ Fellow (Level 5)
- Have judged at least 90 photography club competitions
- Have researched the work of at least 15 different internationally known Photographers
- Have judged at least 4 photography Interclub competitions
- Have judged in at least 4 National photography competitions
- Have mentored at least 4 Intern judges (not a pre-requisite but looked upon favourably)
- Have attended at least 14 different photographic exhibitions (Gallery, Salon etc.). This does not include Club, National or International amateur exhibitions.
- Have constructed and presented at least 15 different photography presentations at photo clubs
- Have been judging club photography competitions over at least 7 years I have been judging club photography competitions over at least 7 years
Master – MAPJA Accreditation
- Have attended a ‘Master Training ” (Level 6)
- Have judged at least 150 photography club competitions
- Have been judging club photography competitions over at least 12 years
- Have constructed and presented at least 20 different photography presentations at photo clubs
- Have attended at least 24 different photographic exhibitions (Gallery, Salon etc.). This does not include Club, National or International amateur exhibitions.
- Have researched the work of at least 30 different internationally known photographers
- Have judged at least 10 photography Interclub competitions
- Have judged in at least 8 National photography competitions recognised by APS (not a pre-requisite but looked upon favourably)
- Have mentored at least 6 Intern judges (not a pre-requisite but looked upon favourably)
